Outside researchers can access web-searchable data repositories maintained by faculty of the Department of Geosciences. These databases include hydrologic and geologic data for GIS and groundwater resource studies focusing on Asia and the Middle East, as well as a drill core records and data for sediment cores from throughout the Michigan Basin. The following digital databases are currently available:
MGREE Core Data Collection - maintained by the WMU Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education (MGREE), this is a vast library of well log and drill core data from historical oil and gas exploration throughout the Michigan Basin. Online data includes analyses of drill cuttings, oil, gas and water analyses, total production information, and well log data from thousands of individual drill borings.
Tethys - an interdisciplinary GIS database project funded by the National Science Foundation, providing information on geologic and tectonic relationships in the Earth's crust in the Eurasian transcontinental region.
Egyptian Geological Database - a collaborative project to develop a web-based GIS relational database for geological data sets for Egypt.
Groundwater Resources of the Eastern Egyptian Desert - funded by the United Nations Development Programme, this online database is under development to promote the development, validation and demonstration of techniques to evaluate the extent of alternative water resources arising from sporadic precipitation over large watersheds in arid and semi-arid mountainous areas.
Mesopotamian Marshlands Database - an extensive resource for visualizing geoscientific data for the Tigris and Euphrates watersheds in Iraq and Iran.
