Geotechnical

The geotechnical courses and facilities provide training and research opportunities in the areas of soil mechanics, hydrogeology, and engineering geology. Facilities include a state-of-the-art geotechnical laboratory and three, fully instrumented, field test sites where principles of slope displacement analysis and erosion remediation can be taught and applied. Dr. Ronald B. Chase supervises the laboratory . Dr. Chase and Dr. Alan E. Kehew supervise the field test sites. Other supporting Geoscience faculty members include Drs. Daniel Cassidy, Duane Hampton, William Sauck, and Christopher Schmidt.

Note - there is currently no official geotechnical program in the manner of, say, geochemistry or geophysics. A geotechnical emphasis is possible through the current hydrogeology program.
