Once you have been admitted to Western Michigan University and have settled in, please schedule an appointment with one of our undergraduate advisors to fill out a major or minor form. GRADUATE ADMISSIONSSTEP 1If you are an international student (either undergraduate or graduate), you will need to go to the website of the Office of International and Scholar Services. They have all of the information regarding visa and financial requirements for your study here in the USA. http://www.wmich.edu/oiss/application.html If you are a domestic student wishing to apply for a graduate program, you will need to fill out a graduate application through WMU's Graduate College. You will find an online application on this page as well as links to the Graduate Readmission Application form and the Graduate Non-Degree Application form. http://www.wmich.edu/grad/admissions/ STEP 2The Department of Geosciences requires a Graduate Studies Application form be submitted to the Department. It can be found at the following link. http://www.wmich.edu/geology/grad/form.htm STEP 3Three letters of recommendation are required. Please ask your recommenders to seal the form/letter in an envelope and initial the seal before they give it back to you or before they send it to the Department. http://www.geology.wmich.edu/Academic/wmu_geosciences_GradRefForm.pdf STEP 4Please send a Statement of Purpose - Area of Interest that outlines why you are interested in the field of Geosciences and what you would like to accomplish with an advanced degree. STEP 5GRE scores are required by the end of your first semester in residence. If you have official or unofficial scores before that time, please send them to us with your application materials. *To evaluate a graduate admission file, we also require copies of transcripts - but that requirement should already be noted in the University Application. |
